In this snowboard tutorial I'm going to teach you how to spin on a box! Most terrain parks have a "fun" box and one of the most fun snowboarding tricks tricks to learn on it is the box spin.
Before box spins you should first learn how to do Backside Boardslide. Back Boards will teach you how to land flat on the box, and how to stay balanced on a box all the way to the end.
Start by practice your snowboard spinning skills on the snow. Find an open area on the run where you can get used to creating spin and holding it for a few rotations. Remember that as you spin on snow, you have to constantly be changing from your heel to toe edge. When you're spinning on the box your board will be completely flat.
The first step to spinning on a box is the approach. There are two turn you need to do, a toe turn, followed by a heel turn. You do a heel turns just before the box because you continue the spin in the same direction as the heel turn. Make sure you keep these two turns lined up with box, so you can spin down the center, and you don't slide off the side.
The second step is to create the spin by winding up and rotating your body. Just before arriving at the box wind up by turning your arms and shoulders back, then rotate by turning your arms and chest towards the box. You can control how fast you spin, by how quickly you windup and rotate your body.
The third step is to keep the spin going by looking your head around. If you stop looking, then you'll stop your spin as well. Keep you head looking around until you come off the box and spot your landing.
Have fun out there practicing your box spins! If you have any questions you can leave them down in the comments. If you're looking for more tips on box spins I'll be posting 3 bonus on tips on my patreon page. Thanks for watching guys and I'll see ya in the next video!
